~Fishing, Friends, Food and Farkle!~

We have had such a great few days.   We met this wonderful couple from Texas - Ricky and Amanda who were SO sweet to us.   The boys were fishing from the dock one day and Ricky saw them and asked if he could take Scott and the boys out fishing out on his boat.   He taught them all about the fish in the lake, how to catch them and how to fillet them.   The type of fishing Ricky does here at Lake Conroe is called "jugging".   He was SO great with the boys letting them do the netting and catching.

They went out with him quite a few times and SO enjoyed "hanging" with Ricky.
They caught several catfish each time they went out.   One of them weighed 9 pounds!

One thing we have noticed here and on the east coast is that everyone seems to fillet their fish while they are still alive!!!  AAHH!!!   The poor thing is still breathing even with no sides!!!
Even Amanda got right in there and helped Ricky with the filleting.   They reminded me so much of Dad and Mum - it was so great!

Our beautiful, feathered friends were waiting for "treats" and enjoyed it when the boys threw them the fish scraps.

Ricky and Amanda were wonderful and asked us to join them for a "fish fry" - our first!!   We had SUCH a fabulous time with them and the meal was fantastic!!
They even had a bonfire set up for us to enjoy.
We got to enjoy "hush puppies" - so delish!!  We are becoming quite "southern" with all our different meals we are trying!
We were SO spoiled!   It was like a buffet. We had fish, hush puppies, green beans, red potatoes, salad, bread, different types of pops, hot chocolate, coconut pie and a chocolate pie too - whew!!! Just delicious!
Then they taught us a new game - "Farkle" - just hilarious!   We had such great fun with it.

Thank you both for your encouragement, spiritual wisdom, laughter, hospitality, friendship and such a fun time together.   We pray we will see you again sometime.
