~A fun day in Woodbine, GA~

We had another great day with the Golden Family.  We went to a lovely park on the water.......
had lots of pizza, chips, "cokes" and fruit...................
and played LOTS of mini sticks - boys vs girls!!    TIE GAME.
We had some wonderful conversations..................
 took in some beautiful scenery..................
went for a great stroll along the boardwalk.............
and along this oak lined path that used to be the old railroad tracks.
We always have such a FUN time when we are together!

~Historic St.Mary's and more Friends!~

A few days ago we visited Historic St Mary's in Georgia. This city was first settled in the mid 16th century by the Spanish.  It was a "cold" day but we enjoyed walking along the waterfront and seeing all the old historic buildings.

St Mary's waterfront.  Nearby is the famous and very beautiful Cumberland Island.

The Riverfront Hotel - built in 1916

While staying at Walkabout Camp and RV Park the kids had such a great time playing with the owner's kids.  This is Cameron and Travis playing football together with some other boys.
Kaitylyn and Shae hit it off and had fun playing on the tire swing, basketball and lots of other board and card games.
Brad and Travis taking their turn on the swing with Liam.
This is cute Savannah their youngest child enjoying some "lego" time.
Scott enjoyed helping Troy with his concrete flower beds that he was building at the front office area.
"Ron" had fun taking the kids (and Scott) for "rides" on his golf cart around the park and area.
We felt at "home" here at this park as they had chickens.  They let them "loose" in the afternoons to roam the campground!   I think they are enjoying our lunch crumbs!!
This is a lovely boardwalk at the back of the campground.
Beautiful sunsets in Georgia.
Thank you Troy and Suze for your hospitality and friendship!   We had a great week.  Keep up the good work!!

~Tailgating, NFL game and Potluck~

WOW - we had SUCH a fun day today!  Scott managed to get us some "cheap" tickets to see an NFL game.   We had never been to see a football game before and since we were only about a half hour drive from Jacksonville, FL we thought this would be a good opportunity to go.   The Jacksonville Jaguars were playing the Tennessee Titans.   When we told Todd and Stephanie that we could get tickets they were excited to join us and said we MUST tailgate before the game.  What a FUN thing to do - we found a parking lot about 15 mins away from the game, set up the BBQ on the back of the truck and had our hotdog lunch while overlooking the river - so beautiful!

There were people set up all around us - some with chilli, some barbequing, all with "drinks" and just sitting on their chairs on the sidewalk - quite funny!!  Here is the chef cooking up our "dogs".

Is this not funny or what?
The game was held at the Ever Bank Field in Jacksonville, FL
The Jaguars had only won 1 game in the last nine, so the stadium was only about 1/2 full.  It was SO much fun to be there!
There was this funny guy that was at the end of our row that yelled and "roared" in his very deep voice - the entire game!!!  I think we must have watched him more than we watched the football - he was hilarious!!!
During the game they were tossing up necklaces and also t-shirts.   I managed to "grab" one but almost trampled Stephanie and Parker in the process - sorry guys!!!  It fit Scott, so he put it on.  Then Travis caught one too and Todd promptly went over to him and offered him $5 for the shirt!!!  Travis was pumped and Todd put on his new shirt :)   SO FUNNY!
Our "friend" even went down to the glass and tried to get the crowd to do what he wanted them to do - cheering etc....
After all the losses the team had - they had a win today!!!   Y A Y  !!!
What an adventure!
The campground we are staying at is owned by this sweet Australian family who do a potluck every Sunday evening.  They even changed the time from 5p till 6p so that we could make it.   We arrived back from the game at 5.55p and went straight in for this amazing "buffet" Thanksgiving dinner.  There were 33 people there and after the meal we were able to chat and get to know some of the people a little better.
There was turkey, ham, stuffing, mash, veggies, sweet potatoes, scalloped potatoes, macaroni and cheese, apple sauce, yams, corn, cranberry sauce, gravy, veggie tray and salads etc......Everyone had at least 2 helpings and many of the men had 3 !!
Then there was a whole table full of desserts too!   YUMMY!
What a FABULOUS and FUN-FILLED day!!!

~Happy (American) Thanksgiving~

We enjoyed another wonderful day with the Golden Family.   This time to celebrate US Thanksgiving.  This time last year we were with them in Palm Springs, CA for Thanksgiving too and had no idea that we would be with them again for it this year.   We had such a fun day with many games, amazing food and lots of laughs!
Trying to put paperclips in the correct colour order.
This is just one of the tables of food!  We had such a feast.  We all decided that we felt like fried chicken instead of turkey.  We also had rolls with butter or pumpkin spice butter (yum!), gravy, cranberry sauce, mash potato, broccoli, salad, stuffing, "cokes", apple and pumpkin pie, cream and ice-cream!   We went to the Golden's RV Park as they had a nice room that we were able to use for our party.  It even had a fridge for us to store our stuff in and a stove that we used for cooking everything.

This is us "digging in"!!   YUM!
We did a scavenger hunt around the RV Park - it was SO funny when the groups stopped into different trailers asking for things on the list eg: tennis balls, soap, candles, eggs, Georgia quarter etc....
One of the games had us all "carrying" acorns across the room with a straw.
What are Todd and Stephanie smoking???  This was meant to be a child-friendly game!! :)

And you too Travis???

Shae was the only one who could not seem to be able to keep the acorn on the straw - it was hilarious!
And now Scott is at it too !!!  Disgraceful!!
Next we had to try and balance 3 golf balls on top of each other - Todd got pretty serious and even lay down on the concrete pad to get just the right angle!  He did quite well with 2 balls balanced BUT.....
the record was 3..............by Scott  ............(all those Pro Shop rainy days paid off!!!!)  ..not that the Harper's are competitive or anything !!
Last game had us "fishing" in a pot of oats for paperclips - if you have not done this before - try it......it's tough - you can't feel the clips!!

We had a GREAT day - thanks for sharing "your" Thanksgiving with us all Golden's.
