The mini golf course was so spread out and all in the "woods" - very neat.
Our site was quite a distance from the river, but we enjoyed walking down to it several times during our stay.
Texas has been in such a drought for a few years now and the Colorado River is 90 ft down from what it usually is!
One of the days we went into the little town of Columbus. We enjoyed doing the "historical tour" of different building and houses. This museum was the original fire department of Columbus.
This is the Colorado County Courthouse.
This is the Stafford Opera House which was built in 1886.
We saw many beautiful homes throughout the historical section of the town.
We stopped at this very unique and interesting place - The Industrial Country Market. The family that runs it is completely "off the grid" and use hundreds of solar panels to generate energy for their shop and homes. Just amazing! It does help that Texas gets SO much sun!
This is the room that houses all the batteries that store the power from the solar panels
A "misty" morning at our campground.
Another hard day at "work"! You can see how much the river has dropped. We had to climb down a steep bank to make it to where the boys could stand and fish.
Spectators!!
We spent one afternoon at the pool where the girls read their books (the pool was NOT heated so no-one attempted to swim as it was VERY windy).......
the boys played with lego and we met a very nice couple from Spokane, WA who we chatted with all afternoon. Thanks for all your "info" help, John and Trish!Later that night we went and turned on the outside mini golf lights (or putt putt golf as the Texans call it :)) and played in the dark with just the lights lighting up each hole - very cool!!
We can honestly say that Jessie has become a true Texan "redneck"!!!
