~Family, Seaside and Astoria~

Well, after almost 8 months of travelling we finally got to see some family again!  Scott's Mom and sister joined us here at the TT Park in Seaside, Oregon.   We surprised them by arriving a day early, so it was all lots of fun.
Our first night together was spent in their "cabin" watching cracking up over Tim Hawkins on DVD.
The next morning we ventured out to the cute, little town of Seaside.   This is the boardwalk which runs parallel to the beautiful ocean and takes you right into town.

Everything is about Lewis and Clark here.
Here "they" are.
It started pouring rain so we headed into the Carousel Mall with its cute souvenir shops and indoor carousel.
Then off to the Taffy Shop - wow - there was every flavour available.
Next off to Costco for lunch.
You just can't get an 18" pizza in Canada for $10 !!!  Such yumminess!!!
The afternoon was spent in Astoria.   We went to the Astoria Column situated  600 ft above sea level overlooking the Columbia River.
It was built in 1926, is 125 ft tall and has a 164 step spiral staircase which leads to an observation deck.

This is the staircase that some of us climbed!!
YAY - we are at the top!
What a view eh?
Ok....if you look closely you may see who did NOT want to walk up to the top of the tower!!!!   You can see our van down there and on the left is Cheryl's lovely new car and in front of them is............???  :)
I must say we all had wobbly legs when we arrived back down at the bottom!
After the tower we went down to this old pier to see these VERY loud sea lions!!!   Too funny!
