~Toronto and the Hockey Hall of Fame~

Hi everyone......... we have had no internet for days now so the blog is quite far behind.  Make sure you scroll down several posts to see everything.

This is coming into Toronto, Ontario.   Look at all that traffic.   At one point there were 20 lanes !!!!!!!!!!!!  We did not realise that Toronto is the 3rd largest city in North America after Mexico City and New York - wow!!!   No wonder it was busy.
We decided not to drive into the city and took the "TTC" instead - fun for everyone and no stress for our "driver".

It was pouring rain so we decided to do the much anticipated Hockey Hall of Fame
And......it did not disappoint.   The kids had a blast looking at all the jerseys of inducted players, old skates, trophies, write ups etc...
Bobby Orr's skates were bronzed to preserve them.
Of course.....Wayne Gretzky had many highlight points of his career shown throughout the museum.
This is when "the great one" surpassed Gordie Howe in number of goals scored.
This is a replica of the Montreal Canadiens dressing room - great to see - would have been even better if it had been the Canucks !!!
Trying on the large goalie pads.

There was SO much to read and we learned and enjoyed it very much.
"Boo" to the 2012 LA Kings Stanley Cup Champs :)
This is the original Stanley Cup which is housed in a large vault.
We went into the "Great Hall" where all the trophies are kept.
This is the Ted Lindsey Award that Daniel Sedin won in the 2010/2011 season.
FUN times touching the "Stanley Cup".
Some more proud Vancouver Canucks moments.

Then we all got a chance to take some shots and also "receive" some shots.   Here is Travis getting ready to stop the puck fired from Mark Messier and Wayne Gretzky.  He stopped them all - way to go Trav.

After the HHOF we wandered down to the waterfront where we could see the Toronto Islands.   Very pretty - even with the rain.
Fairmont Royal York Hotel
We walked all through the Financial District and saw all the huge buildings.  We even got to go inside the Toronto Stock Exchange Building - unfortunately they don't do "visible" trading that you can watch anymore.  We did chat with a man who showed us a few things.
This is where the Toronto Maple Leafs play their home games.
Beautiful Old City Hall
And.......the very busy shopping district.

Another GREAT day.
