Still can't believe we are on the east coast of Canada! Today we drove the long, windy, narrow BUT extremely beautiful Cabot Trail in Cape Breton Highlands National Park. The park was so lovely and had plateaus, canyons, waterfalls, sandy beaches and spectacular seaside cliffs. We stopped off at many little towns, watched a demonstration on rug hooking, bought some "right out of the oven" croissants, donuts and a baguette from a local bakery, went on several walks and stopped off at many viewpoints along the way! It was a 300km drive and after all our stops etc....we looked at our watches when we arrived back at the campsite and noticed we had taken 9 hours!!!!!!!!!!!! What a great day we had!!
This is the walk we did around the bog.
Unfortunately the sun did not shine for us today, but the view was still fantastic!
This is the "Lone Shieling" walk we did. There were SO many sugar maple trees - some being over 350 years old. It was so beautiful.
Look how close we got to this moose!!!! Unbelievable. We had been looking for one the whole time and we came around a corner near the end of the drive and this bull was right near the side of the road!
A lovely sandy beach with wavesWOW - are we really on the Atlantic Ocean??? Having SO much fun!!
